AND HOW TO APPLY
Functions of the BCAG Board of Directors
Board members must participate in the community leader function of the Board (i.e. work alongside other agencies and community organizations; take the concerns of these stakeholders into account).
Board members must participate in the Director function of the Board (i.e. fulfilling the vision statement; focusing on goals; monitoring operations; setting policies and standards; ensuring resources are available; strategic planning and oversight of core operations & working groups).
Be committed to BC Apparel and Gear Association’s vision, mission, and values.
Attend meetings – Board meetings are usually once a month on a weekday evening (PST). All Directors must give 24 hour notice if they are unavailable or will be late.
Be informed – Directors receive an agenda and related background reading for each board meeting a few days prior to taking place.
Avoid and/or declare conflicts of interest – Directors must declare when they or their employer may benefit personally or professionally in a way that is not common to the rest of the Board because of a decision made by the Board.
Maintain confidentiality – strict confidentiality must be kept about personal information about Board business, particularly members and any legal proceedings that the Board may be involved with.
Serve for 3-year term for maximum of 3 consecutive terms.
BC Apparel and Gear Association is looking to ensure representation from various sectors of our industry. Please indicate in you application which sector/s you would like to fairly represent. (Can be more than 1.)

Product Design / Development / Innovation
Retail
Additionally, experience and expertise in the following areas is highly beneficial:
Fundraising, Engagement, Development or Government relations
Working at / with a non-profit or association
Currently employed at, have recently been employed at or work closely with a major, BC-Based retailer of apparel and/or gear.
Work for, own or operate a BC-based local manufacturer of textile products or materials.
